Orange County CA Real Estate Market Update – October 2015

As of the end of October 2015, there were 6509 homes for sale in Orange County CA.  During the month of October, there were 2292 closed transactions, and we currently have 2333 homes in escrow.  The average market time for homes for sale in Orange County CA today is 2.79 months, or about 81 days.

Demand for homes in Orange County CA fell by 8% over the month of October – a clear indication that we are headed into the Holiday Selling Season.  Expect demand to continue to decrease through January of 2016.

Distressed homes account for only 3.2% of all homes for sale in Orange County CA today.  While Orange County CA luxury homes make up 13% of the homes for sale.  These are homes that are listed for $2M and above.

This is a good time for Orange County CA home buyers – there are more choices, mortgage interest rates are still low, and not-so-serious buyers are distracted by upcoming holiday activities.  For Orange County CA home sellers, this means more pressure to show off your house in the best possible light – using all the tricks in the book!
